Why the edition number matters

An edition of 25 means 25 prints of that image will be made, and no more — the listings state that a finished run is not reprinted. That cap is the clearest thing separating a collectable photograph from a poster, and it is the first thing worth checking before you buy anything.

Each print comes with a signed certificate that states its own edition number, so the print and its paperwork identify each other. Keep the certificate with the work: it is what a future buyer or insurer will ask for.

The artists usually sign on the reverse rather than the face — common practice in art photography, because it keeps the image itself clean.

Framing a 40 × 30 cm print

The prints arrive rolled and unframed, so framing is your decision — and it is the one thing that most changes how the work reads on a wall. Budget for it: a decent frame often costs more than a print at this price.

You have two routes. Frame it at 40 × 30 cm directly, which is tidy but keeps the image tight to the edge. Or use a larger frame with a mat cut to the print, which gives the photograph breathing room and is how most galleries hang work this size.

Glazing matters more than the moulding. Direct sunlight is what fades a print, so UV-filtering glass and a wall that does not face a window will do more for its lifespan than an expensive frame. Ask for acid-free mat board — ordinary card yellows and takes the print with it.

Delivery and returns

Prints are dispatched from the Netherlands within one to two business days, rolled in a protective tube. Delivery to France costs €18 and takes roughly 4 to 9 days in total; orders over €175 ship free within the EU. Let the paper relax flat for a day before framing.

An unframed print returned in its original condition within 14 days of delivery is refunded, according to the shop's terms. Check the listing for the current conditions before you order.
